2. Born This Way: Issues About the Gay Community

Heterosexuals in religious circles would usually take this as a form of spiritual, soul-searching issue. For the not-so-religious, this would be taken as a crossroads in life due to a coming-of-age, mid-life or identity crisis caused either by a sudden breakthrough event or traumatic experience. Some would even take this as a predominant behaviour characteristic of a family trait or bloodline which was handed down from one generation to the next. But that outlook seems to change when it comes to the issue of sexual orientation, wherein this same argument is used to assess or assert one’s true sexual identity, as opposed to one’s personal identity. And so we come to the issue of biological genetics. A study by Dr. Alan Sanders claims that sexual orientation is not by choice but rather an offshoot of two regions of the human genome. In conclusion to his research, The Independent quoted him as saying that his work “erodes the notion that sexual orientation is a choice”...

1. Mental Stability: Issues About the Gay Community

Rainbow Flag The LGBT’s fight for human rights and equality has come a long way, and the movement has gained increasing momentum since the Stonewall Riots . The Transgender Day of Remembrance every Nov 20 is a way to commemorate those who have fallen protecting the basic human right to live just like everybody else. Since then, a deviation in the normal or “general” sexual orientation is rarely considered a mental health issue or a precursor to one anymore. They are now being given the same civil rights to marry, and even to adopt children among other things. But despite such efforts to strike a common ground in the face of disparity and striking differences, looming questions still remain. Here are some of them: 1. Mental Stability Many studies show that LGBT individuals have a higher risk of suffering from mental and emotional problems, such as suicidal tendencies, major depression and anxiety disorder, as compared to their heterosexual counterpa...

Contrary to Popular Belief: YOU CAN JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER

I never thought that enjoying or favoring one variety of banana over another would cause me to start thinking that appearances could actually determine the insides of a person. The fruit for instance, based from past experience, would always tell whether they taste good (with a tangy sourness to the sweetness) or not, or whether their insides have rough gritty spots or not, just by the look of their skin peel. But there are exceptional cases when despite the color of the skin (dark and blotchy) the banana does not contain any of those unpleasant “bumps”. However, the taste is still incomparable to the lighter-colored, smooth-skinned ones. Some people would disagree to that, such as my mother, who has this habit of disagreeing with me anyways. But suffice it to say, different strokes - or tastes for that matter - for different folks. I just wonder if you could say the same thing for humans. Based on a person’s height, built, color of the skin, the clothes they we...

The League of Commonplace Chickenshits

The UN and the Roman Catholic Church  "condemned" the highly sensational and purported EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS of drug lords (or probably mere grunts mistaken as top honchos because they all LOOK ALIKE around there parts, PARTICULARLY in the JUDICIARY.  Not to mention that there's a BIG LOOPHOLE to this story, as provided of course by the PANTS ON FIRE news agencies who are "eagerly" reporting that most of them had sought the "sanctuary" of drug rehab centers to escape Judge Dredd. But do you ever hear senators or lawmakers who are secretly condoning similar activities including human and bride trafficking, getting wiped out?  Nope.  And the usual hoopla Rambo gun-slinging wild west publicity stunt always has an ALIBIS as to why the streets NEVER ever gets CLEARED enough. As for the international League of COMMONPLACE "We Condemn It But So What?" Genteel Men, that's all they ever do.  They do a press release then "JUST ...
